Ternes Burton™ stripping tabs are sturdy pieces of .0075" thick mylar. For several detailed examples of how to use our pins and tabs please see the videos and blogs linked on my home page. Stripping tabs are the bridge between your paper and the register pin button. One side of the stripping tab is taped to the edge of your paper, while the round 1/4" (6.3mm) hole is attached to the 1/4" round button of the register pin which has been taped to your work surface. Two or three tabs are usually used with each piece of paper. After all the prints are finished the tabs are then either cut off your work, or many people peel off and reuse the tabs. They aren’t really meant for re-use and eventually will need to be replaced. Please order enough tabs for future use as ordering just tabs later can be expensive. You can usually purchase a larger bag with twice as many tabs for only a few dollars more. For international customers the postage is usually the same with either 250 or 500 tabs. The ST1 stripping tab has a 1/4" (6.3mm) round hole. The elongated hole in this stripping tab is not used in printmaking. The ST1 stripping tabs are available in bags of 100, 250, 500 or 1000 pieces. The larger the bag the more the savings.

ST9 stripping tabs with 9/32” holes.

Do not order this ST9 tab with 1/4" register pins. They are two different sizes and will not work together.

Office supply punches are only meant for punching paper for three ring binders and not printmaking. Their holes vary in size and quality. Most office supply punches sold in the US make 9/32" holes. The ST9 stripping tab has a single 9/32" diameter hole. Do NOT order these 9/32" tabs to use with the standard 1/4" register pins. Order standard ST1 tabs to use with 1/4" pins. Some punches in the EU make 6mm holes. I do have register pins available in this size as well as several other metic sizes.
