Ternes Burton register pins are precision machined buttons spot welded to a stainless steel base. They are commonly used to align layers of paper while printmaking using linoleum or wood blocks. Several examples of completed projects are displayed throughout our website. There are blogs and a beautiful video showing some usages on the Home page. Our pins enable tight registration on complicated multi color projects. The register pins work with either our stripping tabs, or can be inserted directly through the holes made by a punch. The register pin bases are 013” thick stainless, the sturdiest and most long lasting available. Each register pin is welded multiple times and is meant for long term repeated use. We make them one at a time, we don’t smush them out of a large machine and we don’t rivet them. We also hand polish both the top of the button and the bottom of the base to prevent any scratching of your work. All of this hand work takes a lot of extra time, but we feel the final product is worth it. We have over one hundred different diameters and heights to choose from. We hand stencil the diameter and height of the button on our bases for easy identification and reordering. Our trademarked base shape is unique to our company and is designed with a narrow forward area to hold the button centered to prevent tilt. The wider area of the base has a hole in it so that as you tape the pin down you have adhesion on either side as well as the center, which helps limit movement. The button height depends upon the number of layers, as well as the thickness of layers being attached to the pin. The most common register pin we sell is the 1/4" x .085". This means that the button is round, has a 1/4" diameter, and is .085" (2.16mm) high. To help you with your selections we have made packages with a combination of register pins and stripping tabs.
Our most popular pins are available below for online ordering. We have many other less common sizes or discontinued sizes that are listed on a separate pdf. Click here to view that pdf.
